All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ CLAUDE DUDLEY HARRUP Claude Dudley Harrup, 56, well known resident of Courtland, died Sunday, February 7, at 1:40 p.m. at Petersburg Hospital after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Harrup, of Sussex County. He was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church of Sussex County. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bessie Bailey Harrup, of Courtland; three sons, Elmer C. Harrup, of Waverly; James A. Harrup, of Courtland, and Sgt. Carrol D. Harrup, USA; two step-sons, Edward J. Bailey, of Newport News, and Garland J. Bailey, USN; five daughters, Mrs. Lula H. Edwards, Mrs. Alice Cordle, Mrs. Rubie Denson, all of Richmond; Mrs. Doris Sullivan, of Laurel, Md. and Miss Linda Faye Harrup, of Courtland; four step-daughters, Mrs. Bill Smith, and Mrs. Jean Curtis, both of Newport News; Miss Shirley Bailey and Miss Phyllis Harrup, of Courtland; nine grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Daisy Holt, of Petersburg. The body was taken to the W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home, Franklin. The body laid in state until noon Tuesday. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Antioch Baptist Church by the Rev. J.H. Robbins, Jr., pastor. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Claude Dunn, Horace Dunn, George Harrup, Paul Barrett, George Ellis and Willie Ellis.
