Hargrave, 73, died Tuesday, June 25, at his home in Dendron. He was the son of James and Martha H. Hargrave and the husband of the late Inez Whitmore Hargrave. A native of Surry Co., he was a retired painter and carpenter, a member of Dendron Baptist Church, and a Senior Deacon. He is survived by one son, Joseph H. Hargrave of Dendron; one daughter, Mrs. Leslie C. French, Jr. of Petersburg; two brothers, Floyd A. Hargrave of Colonial Heights, and Willie P. Hargrave of Wakefield. He is also survived by four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services are today at Purviance Funeral Chapel at 3:30 p.m. Burial will follow in the Wakefield Cemetery. Dr. A.J. Deacom will officiate. Pallbearers are: Obie Rawlings, Alton Rawlings, Ernest Rawlings, Jasper Rawlings, LeRoy Hargrave, Earl Hargrave, Jesse Hargrave, Ernest W. Goodrich and Willard Goodrich.
