She was a lifelong resident of Surry County, a member of the Dendron Baptist Church and a daughter of John and Rebecca Andrews Whitmore. Surviving are her husband, Hugh J. Hargrave of Dendron; one daughter, Mrs. Leslie C. Franck of Petersburg; one son, Joseph H. Hargrave of Dendron; one sister, Mrs. George W. Goodrich and one brother, Owen W. Whitmore, both of Dendron; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 15, at 4:30 p.m. in the Purviance Funeral Chapel at Wakefield with Rev. R.E. Brittle and Rev. Phillip Rayart officiating. Burial was in Wakefield Cemetery. Pallbearers were C.O. Rawlings, Ernest Goodrich, Willard Goodrich, Osborne Goodrich, Roy Hargrave and Jennings Hargrave.
