ORLEAN ROLLINGS HARGRAVE 

  DENDRON - Mrs. Orlean Rollings Hargrave, 73, resident of Dendron, passed 
away Saturday, May 24, 1997, at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk.

  A native of Surry County, she was daughter of the late Mills Leslie and 
Ida Collier Rolllings.  At the time of her death, she was clerk for the Town 
of Dendron.  She retired in 1989 after 22 years of service as a teller and 
secretary for the Bank of Sussex-Surry, Wakefield.

  A member of Dendron Baptist Church, she served as music director and 
treasurer and was a former Sunday school teacher.  She was a member of the 
"Rusty Needles" and served as treasurer of the Dendron Volunteer Fire 
Department Ladies’ Auxiliary.  She was a former member of the Order of the 
Eastern Star Chapter No. 172, Waverly.

  A talented musician, she was one of the original member of the Rollings 
Family Singers.  She was sister of the late Cecil, Marion, Melvin and Norman 
Rollings.

  She is survived by her husband, Joseph H. Hargrave; a daughter, Anita H. 
Curl, and her husband, R. Edward, of Dendron; a son, J. Dwight Hargrave, and 
his wife, Kathryn C., of Midlothian; five grandchildren, Brandee Curl, 
Chrystal Curl, Mary Sanders, and her husband William, Shannon Hargrave and 
Rand Hargrave; a great-granddaughter, Kaeleigh Hargrave; and sisters-in-law, 
Carol Rollings of Surry, Clarice Rollings of Dendron, Martha Rollings of 
Dendron, and Lois Barrett of Wakefield.

  Funeral services will be held at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, on 
Monday, May 26, at 11 a.m. by the Revs. Raymond Rowland, Wendell Sodergren and 
Edward Griffin. Burial will follow in Wakefield Cemetery.

  Memorial donations may be made to the Dendron Baptist Church, Surry 
Volunteer Rescue Squad or Dendron Volunteer Fire Department.
