He was a native of Surry, a retired lawyer and a member of Carsley Methodist Church. He was the son of the A.F. Johnson and Georgana B. Johnson. Survivors include his wife, Rosa B. Johnson, a daughter, Mrs. Clifton Barrett; a son, Hildra M. Johnson and three grandchildren, all of Dendron; three brothers; W.B. Johnson and J.M. Johnson, of Petersburg, and V.L. Johnson, of Pocomoke City, Md.; two sisters; Mrs. R.C. Purdie, of Pocomoke City, and Mrs. Irene Rust, of Norfolk, and several nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held today at 3 p.m. in the Purviance Funeral Chapel in Wakefield with the Rev. E.R. Alexie, pastor of Dendron Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Wakefield Cemetery.
