Joyner Buried June 10 In Waverly Cemetery Mrs. Marion Parker Joyner, 71, retired school teacher, died in her home in Dendron Thursday, June 8, 1961, after illness of six months. A native of Richmond, she was a daughter of William R. and Mrs. Marion E. Ruland Wells. She had lived in Dendron since 1910 and was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Surry. She formerly taught in Surry County. She was a graduate of Farmville State Teachers College, now Longwood College. She was the wife of Mike B. Joyner, who is superintendent of Surry County Schools. Besides her husband, surviving are one son, Dr. Joseph Corbin Parker of Richmond; one sister, Mrs. Fannie Wells Hart of Dendron; one brother, Richard H. Wells of Oil City, Pa.; and five grandchildren. A funeral service was held in the Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, Saturday, June 10 at 3 P.M. E.S.T., by the Rev. Dr. W. Taylor Willis, retired Episcopal rector of Norfolk. Burial was in Waverly Cemetery.
