Besides his wife, Mrs. Ladye Bryant Kitchen, he is survived by a son, Alvin Kitchen; three daughters, Janette, Rebecca and Frances Kitchen; three brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at his home and burial was in Elon [sic*] church cemetery. James Dollie KITCHEN, farmer, b. 28 May 1878, Sussex Co., d. 15 May 1941, at home, near Wakefield, interred in Elam Baptist Church Cemetery, Littleton, 16 May 1941, marked in Waverly Cemetery*, "The Smithfield (VA) Times," Vol. 23, No. 8, May 22, 1941, p. 6, col. 7 *Additional information: Birthdate &c. from D.Cert. (#13616 {Wakefield Dist. #3}). The gravestone for James & Ladie is pictured with his Find a Grave Memorial, #18386811. His father, Confederate veteran Orlando J. KITCHEN, is listed as buried at Elam Baptist Church Cemetery.
