She was the widow of Earling S. Kitchen Sr.; she was a member of Wakefield United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and served on the Administrative Board for many years. She was a member of the Woman's Club of Wakefield, the Frances Bland Randolph Chapter of N.S.D.A.R., the Thomas Rolfe Branch APVA. She graduated from Farmville State Teacher College 1931 and taught in the public school system in Blackstone for two years; she was employed at the Bank of Sussex-Surry, Wakefield from 1936 to 1975 as Assistant Cashier. She is survived by one son, E. Stuart Kitchen Jr.; two grandchildren, Timothy Stuart Kitchen and Karen Elizabeth Kitchen all of Wakefield. Funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, October 22, 1982 in Wakefield United Methodist Church. Rev. James M. Tongue will officiate. Burial Wakefield Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, Thursday evening, 7-8:30 p.m. The family suggest memorial donations be made to the Wakefield United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, Waverly Rescue Squad or Ivor Rescue Squad. ****************************************************************************** FRANCES ELIZABETH STEPHENSON KITCHEN WAKEFIELD - A funeral service for Elizabeth Stephenson Kitchen, 72, was held Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Wakefield United Methodist Church by the Revs. James M. Tongue and L.P. Bland. Burial was in Wakefield Cemetery. Mrs. Kitchen died Wednesday in her home. A lifelong resident of Wakefield, she was the widow of E.S. Kitchen Sr., and was a member of Wakefield United Methodist Church and its administrative board. She was a member of the Woman's Club of Wakefield, the Frances Bland Randolph Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Thomas Rolfe Branch of the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities. She was a graduate of Farmville State Teachers College and taught in public schools. She was assistant cashier of the Bank of Sussex and Surry. Survivors include her son, Sheriff E.
