KITCHEN, 74, EX-PUBLISHER OF THE DISPATCH Earling Stuart Kitchen, 74, former publisher of the Sussex-Surry Dispatch in Wakefield, died Tuesday morning in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk. A native of Sussex County, he was a son of Augustus E. and Mary Brooks Kitchen and the husband of Mrs. Elizabeth Stephenson Kitchen. He was a member of the Wakefield Sportsmen and Hunt Clubs, an Army veteran of World War I and II, and a member of England-Parsons American Legion Post 191, and Wakefield United Methodist Church. Besides his widow, surviving are a son, Earling Stuart Kitchen, Jr. of Wakefield; and a brother, Julian B. Kitchen of Suffolk. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, by the Rev. R.L. Consolvo and the Rev. L.P. Bland. Burial will be in Wakefield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Ivor of Waverly Rescue Squads. ****************************************************************************** Earling S. Kitchen WAKEFIELD -- Earling Stuart Kitchen, 74, died today at a Suffolk Hospital. He was former owner of the Sussex Surry News-Dispatch in Wakefield. Son of Augustus Everette and Mary Brooks Kitchen, he was a member of the Wakefield United Methodist Church. He was a member of Wakefield Sportsmen's Club and Wakefield Hunt Club. A veteran of the U.S. Army and two World Wars, he was a member of England- Parsons American Legion Post 191 in Waverly, Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Stephenson Kitchen of Wakefield; one son Earling Stuart Kitchen Jr.; and one brother, Julian B. Kitchen of Suffolk. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 13, at 3:30 p.m. in the Purviance Funeral Chapel in Wakefield. The Rev. R.L. Consolvo and the Rev. L.P. Bland will officiate.
