All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JAMES THOMAS KNIGHT MAYOR OF WAKEFIELD IS TAKEN BY DEATH James Thomas Knight, 66, mayor of Wakefield and well known throughout the district, died early Wednesday morning, Dec. 26th after an illness of 17 days of pneumonia following influenza. He was a native of Smithfield county [sic*] but had lived in Wakefield for 20 years. He was general manager of the store of L.F. Bain & Son. Funeral services were held in Blandford cemetery, Petersburg Thursday afternoon by Rev. L.F. Callahan pastor of Wakefield Methodist Church, assistant by Rev. T.J. Hawkins of Colonial Heights church. Surviving are the widow, two daughters, Mrs. C.W. Drewery of Richmond, and Mrs. C.R. Jones of Colonial Heights, two brothers, B.F.F. Knight of Wakefield and P.F. Knight of Wakefield and sisters, Mrs. W.P. Gillette and Mrs. Estelle Kirkland of Capron. (Hwy. 35).
