JOSEPH THOMAS KIRKLAND

   Joseph Thomas Kirkland, 68, retired farmer of Sussex County, died in 
Raiford Memorial Hospital Sunday night.

   He was the husband of the late Sarah Elizabeth Harrup Kirkland and a 
son of the late William T. and Priscilla Holloman of Sussex County and 
was a member of Antioch Baptist church, Sussex County.

   Surviving are two sons, Joel Thomas Kirkland of Front Royal and Lewis 
E. Kirkland of Petersburg; a daughter, Mrs. Claudia W. Wall of Franklin; 
nine grandchildren; three brothers, J.H. Kirkland of Capron, Walter Kirkland 
of Chester, Pa. and G.W. Kirkland of Armond Beach, Fla. and three sisters, 
Mrs. Annnie Williams of Jarratt, Mrs. F.B. Porter of Petersburg, and Mrs. 
Oscar Rosenbush of Chester, Pa.

   A funeral service will be held in Antioch Baptist Church Tuesday at 2 p.m. 
with the burial in the church cemetery.  The body will be taken to the church 
at 1 p.m.

   Claudia Wallace WALL {1922-1991}.  They have a plot (Annex 2, Plot 31) 
   in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin.
