WILLIE JAMES LAINE 

  WAKEFIELD - A funeral service for Willie James Laine, 73, was held from 
the Purviance Funeral chapel, Wakefield, Tuesday.  He died at his residence 
March 23.

  The Rev. L.B. Bland and the Rev. H.E. Crutchfield, were officiating 
ministers.  Burial was in Wakefield Cemetery.

  A native of Surry County, he was the son of the late Walter West Laine and 
Mrs. Gay Matthews Laine.  He was a retired farmer.

  Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Nina F. Laine, Wakefield; one daughter, 
Mrs. Gordon Price, Elberon; one brother, A.W. Laine, Hialeah, Fla.; one 
sister, Mrs. Jenny Bass, Chatham, Va.; one grandson, D. Eugene Brittle, 
Wakefield.

March 26, in Purviance Funeral Chapel in Wakefield with Rev. L.P. Bland and 
Rev. H.E. Crutchfield officiating.

  Burial was in Wakefield Cemetery.

  Pallbearers were: James E. Hones, William H. Brown, Douglas Skinner, 
Marshall Brittle, S.A. Brantley, Jr., Shelton Stewart, Allison Moore and G.O. 
Huber.

  Laine died Saturday in his home.

  A native of Surry County, he was the husband of Mrs. Nina F. Laine.

  He was a member of Dendron Methodist Church and was a retired farmer.

  Besides his widow survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Gordon Price of 
Elberon.
