All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ IRMA LUCILLE ATKINSON LANIER WAKEFIELD - Irma Lucille Atkinson Lanier, 92, died Sept. 26 in the home of her son, Marvin Lanier of Wakefield. Born Dec. 13, 1910, she was the daughter of the late John Conley Atkinson and Bettie James Bailey Atkinson. Mrs. Lanier was the oldest member and past president of Burton's Grove Ladies' Aid, joining in 1949. She was the oldest member of Wakefield Baptist Church. She was the wife of the late Willie Brinkley Lanier. Mrs. Lanier is survived by her three sons, Marvin Lee Lanier and wife Gayle of Wakefield, Elton Brinkley Lanier and wife Rose of Fredericksburg and Felix Benton Lanier and wife Nancy of Williamsburg; grandchildren, Michael Brinkley Lanier of Richmond, Lee Crumpler and wife Michelle of Wakefield, Stephanie Felts and husband Trip of Ivor, Christina Gregory and husband David of Fredericksburg; great-grandchildren, Cayla and Aston Felts of Ivor; and her brother, James Lenard Atkinson and wife Leah of Ivor. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Conley Atkinson and wife, Martha. Funeral services were held Sept. 28 at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, with the Rev. James Kerr officiating. Interment followed in Wakefield Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Wakefield Baptist Church, Waverly volunteer Rescue Squad of Ivor Volunteer Rescue Squad. Irma Lucille (ATKINSON; Mrs. Willie B.)
