JOHN I. MUNFORD DIES AT AGE 80 

  Smithfield, Jan. 24 - John Irvin Munford Jr., 80 [sic; 79], a native of 
Isle of Wight County, died yesterday at about 9:55 p.m. at his home at Ivor.

  He was the son of the late John Irvin and Angeline Livesay Munford and a 
member of Antioch Christian Church.

  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Etta Grant Munford; brother, Cassie Munford 
of Waverly; sister, Mrs. Alice Kidd of Front Royal; son, Gordon Leigh of 
Smithfield; six daughters, Mrs. Olive Clark of Sedley, Mrs. Oralease [sic; 
Aralease] Cowling of Newport News; Mrs. Evelyn Johnson of Portsmouth; Mrs. 
Catherine Gray of Suffolk; Mrs. Francis Benton of Suffolk and Mrs. Cora Luter 
of Ivor; 27 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and 
nephews.

  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wakefield Cemetery, 
Sussex County.

  Graveside services were conducted at 4:30 P.M. in Wakefield Cemetery.

  Funeral rites for John Irvin Munford, Jr., 80, of Ivor were held at 2 P.M. 
Wednesday in Wakefield Cemetery.  Mr. Munford, a retired farmer, died Monday 
night at his home at Ivor. 

  He was a member of Antioch Christian Church in Isle of Wight County. 

  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ettie Grant Munford; one son, Gordon Leigh 
Munford, of Smithfield; six daughters, Mrs. Olive Clarke, of Sedley; Mrs. 
Aralease Cowling, of Newport News; Mrs. Evelyn Johnson, of Portsmouth; Mrs. 
Cora Luter, of Ivor; Mrs. Catherine Gray and Mrs. Frances Benton, of Suffolk; 
27 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Cassie Munford, of 
Waverly, and one sister, Mrs. Alice Kidd, of Front Royal.

   Funeral services for John Irvin Munford, 80, who died Monday, January 23, 
at his home in Ivor, were conducted the following afternoon at two o'clock 
from the Purviance Funeral Home at Wakefield.  Burial was in the Wakefield 
Cemetery.

   Mr. Munford was a member of Antioch Christian Church in Isle of Wight 
County.

   He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ettie Grant Munford of Ivor; one brother, 
Cassie Munford of Waverly; a sister, Mrs. Alice Kidd of Front Royal; a son, 
Gordon Leigh Munford of Smithfield; six daughters, Mrs. Olive Clark of Sedley, 
Mrs. Aralease Cowling of Newport News, Mrs. Evelyn Johnson of Portsmouth, Mrs. 
Cora Luter of Ivor, and Mrs. Catherine Gray and Mrs. Frances Benton, both of 
Suffolk; and  27 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
