She was born in Oak View, Surry County, the daughter of the late Walter Jackson Pond and Sallie Quarles Moyler Pond. She was the widow of George Lelon Munford. She graduated from Blackstone College and attended the University of Virginia. She had taught English and French. She was a member of Wakefield United Methodist Church. She was a member and past president of the Woman’s Club of Wakefield. She had served as director and member of the Thomas Rolfe Branch of the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of the Confederacy. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Anne Munford Ashworth of Richmond; a sister, Ms. Dorothy M. Pond of Petersburg; a brother, Robert M. Pond of Wakefield; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, May 9, at Wakefield United Methodist Church by the pastor, the Rev. E. Lee Chattin. Burial followed in Wakefield Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, had charge of arrangements. Lucile Moyler (POND; Mrs. George L.)
