ESSIE KATE RICHARDSON MURPHY 

  WAKEFIELD - Mrs. Essie Richardson Murphy, age 102, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 
1998, at Waverly Healthcare Center.  She was the widow of C.C. Murphy and 
the daughter of Frank and Katie Hargrave Richardson.  She was a member of 
Rocky Hock United Methodist Church, Wakefield.

  Mrs. Murphy is survived by her sons, Frank Murphy of Smithfield and C. 
Randolph Murphy of Wakefield; one grandson, Charles Wayne Murphy of Elberon; 
and five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.  She was preceded 
in death by her daughter, Rebecca Murphy.

  A funeral service will be held at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, on 
Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. C. Randy Duncan officiating.  Burial 
will be in Wakefield Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral 
home Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

  Memorial donations may be made to the Ivor Volunteer Rescue Squad or Rocky 
Hock United Methodist Church.
