MURPHY - 1924 - 1997 Rebecca Murphy lived her entire life in her childhood home. Interesting enough, the Sussex and Surry Counties lines through the home. She never married. She was a lifelong member of Rocky Hock United Methodist Church and the Naomi Bible Class. She attended church and Sunday school regularly until illness forced her to stop. She was the daughter of Charlie and Essie Richardson Murphy and had two brothers, Frank and Randolph "Tuck" Murphy. Gardening and raising flowers were her favorite hobbies. She had a special talent of flower arranging, and would share this talent by bringing her own flowers and floral arrangements to put in church and Sunday school from springtime through fall. Can't you recall seeing Rebecca driving her blue Ford Grenada to and from Wakefield and to Rocky Hock Church loaded with a fresh arrangement for Sunday services? Her favorite flowers were gladiolas, larkspur and baby's breath. Rebecca was a shy but friendly person who was always willing to share her talents with her church and friends. Rebecca is buried in the Wakefield Cemetery. Thanks to Randolph and Dolly Murphy for the picture and information.
