GARLAND CHAPPELL MORRIS 

  DENDRON - Garland C. Morris, 78, passed away Jan. 10, 1997, at Southampton 
Memorial Hospital, Franklin.

  Mr. Morris was the son of the late Clayton C. and Patty Laine Morris and 
was preceded in death by a sister, Jane M. Frith.  He was born in Sussex 
County, and was a farmer in Dendron for many years and a member of Dendron 
Christian Church.

  Mr. Morris is survived by his wife, Helen Burgess Morris; a son, Wayne B. 
Morris, and his wife, Diana, of Smithfield; a beloved granddaughter, Mary 
Anne Morris of Spring Grove; a loving step-granddaughter, Casey L. Delano of 
Smithfield; a sister, Doris M. Bryant of Courtland; and a brother, Dennis C. 
Morris of Wakefield.

  A graveside service will be conducted in Wakefield Cemetery on Monday, 
Jan. 13, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. A. Woodrow Laine.  The family will receive 
friends at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, from 4 - 6 p.m. afternoon.

  Donations may be made to the Surry Volunteer Rescue Squad or the American 
Cancer Society.
