HELEN BURGESS MORRIS 

  DENDRON - Helen Burgess Morris passed away Sept. 5, 1997, at East Pavilion, 
Franklin.

  Mrs. Morris was the daughter of the late Herman Oliver and Lucy Virginia 
Trueheart Burgess and was predeceased by her husband, Garland C. Morris. 

  She was a native of Surry County and operated a beauty parlor in her Dendron 
home.  She graduated from Dendron High School and was a valued member of both 
the girls; basketball and softball teams.

  She was a lifelong member of Dendron Christian Church and a member of the 
Women's Christian Fellowship of the church.  She was a member of the Laurel 
Chapter, Order of the Easter Star, Claremont, the Surry Garden Club and the 
John Rolfe Chapter of the APVA, Surry.

  Mrs. Morris is survived by a son, Wayne B. Morris, and his wife, Diana, of 
Smithfield; a beloved granddaughter, Mary Anne Morris of Spring Grove; a 
loving step-granddaughter, Casey L. Delano of Smithfield; two brothers, Oliver 
Taylor Burgess, and his wife, Madge, of Norfolk, and Herman Trueheart Burgess, 
and his wife, Ann, of Petersburg.

  Funeral services will be conducted in Wakefield Cemetery on Sunday, Sept. 7, 
at 3 p.m. by the Rev. A. Woodrow Laine.  The family will receive friends at 
Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, from 4 to 6 p.m. this afternoon.

  Donations may be made to the Surry Volunteer Rescue Squad and the Dendron 
Christian Church.
