NICHOLSON JR. 57, GAME WARDEN DIES AT WAKEFIELD John Benjamin Nicholson Jr., 57, retired game warden, died Sunday, August 12. He was past president of the Virginia Game Wardens Assn., past president of the Waverly Rotary Club and past master of Wakefield Masonic Lodge No. 198. He was the founder of Little League baseball in Wakefield and a steward of Wakefield United Methodist Church. He attended the College William and Mary. A lifelong resident of Wakefield, he was the son of John B. and Charlotte Owen Nicholson. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Jennie Barrett Spratley Nicholson; two sons, John B. Nicholson III of Wakefield and William S. Nicholson of Richmond, and a brother, Thomas Owen Nicholson of Atlanta. The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, by the Rev. R.L. Consolvo and Dr. George S. Reamey. Burial was in Wakefield Cemetery. Pallbearers were Russ Magee, Dr. E.C. Nettles, Charlie Kitchen, Aubrey Whitmore, Carlton Holladay, W.H. Brown Jr., J.N. Savedge and Cephas Brittle.
