Netherland Buried Saturday In Wakefield Cem. Charles R. "Bird" Netherland, 54, died unexpectedly following a heart attack at his home at Wakefield early on Thursday morning, April 28th. He was a native of Powhatan County, and went to Wakefield in 1921. Netherland was a steward in Wakefield Methodist Church, a member of the board of directors of the Bank of Sussex and Surry, and a member of the Town Council. He was a Mason and also a member of the Ruritan Club. He is survived by his wife, Mrs Loreatha Fredenburgh Netherland; three brothers, T.M. Netherland, of Dinwiddie, and W.C. and L.V. Netherland, both of Ballsville; two sisters, Mrs. D.E. Brown, of Ballsville, and Mrs. James C. Reins, of North Wilkesboro, N.C., and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services, conducted by the Rev. James L. Blankenship, Jr., were held in the Wakefield Cemetery on Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock.
