EMMA OWNEY BURIED SUNDAY AT ROCKY HOCK A graveside funeral service for Mrs. Emma Sarah Owney, 72, who died Friday morning, April 25, at her home in Ivor, was held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 27, in Rocky Hock Cemetery. Rev. J.L. Blankenship, Jr. and Rev. Raymond P. Carson officiated at the service. Mrs. Owney formerly lived in Wakefield and had suffered a long illness. She was a native of Sussex County [sic*] and a member of Rocky Hock Methodist Church for many years. Surviving are her husband, J.M. Owney of Ivor; two daughters, Mrs. P.P. Rolley and Mrs. Mary O. Gay of Waverly; three sons, Waverly Owney of Ivor, J.W. Owney of Zuni, and J.C. Owney of Waverly; three sisters, Mrs. Charles Pittman of Ivor, Mrs. Fannie Britt of Elberon and Mrs. Sally Bailey of Portsmouth; one brother, J.F. Johnson of Ivor, and twelve grandchildren. Active pallbearers were Messrs. Morris Ellis, Lyle Pond, Oliver Rogers, R.J. Bailey, Joseph Eggleston and R.M. Pond. ****************************************************************************** Mrs. J. M. Owney Buried Sunday At Near Wakefield Mrs. Emma Sarah Owney, 72, died at 11 A.M. April 25th at her home in Ivor after a long illness. She is survived by her husband, J.M. Owney: two daughters, Mrs. P.T. Rolly [sic; P.P. Rolley] and Mrs. Mary O'Gay [sic; O. Gay], both of Waverly; three sons, Waverly H. Owney, of Ivor; J.W. Owney of Zuni, and J.C. Owney, of Waverly; three sisters, Mrs. Charles Pittman of Ivor; Mrs. Fannie Britt of Elberon, and Mrs. Sally Bailey, of Portsmouth; a brother, J. F. Johnson, of Ivor; 12 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held at the grave in Rocky Hock Cemetery near Wakefield Sunday at 2 P.M. with the Rev. J.L. Blankenship, pastor of Rocky Hock Methodist Church, and the Rev. Raymond Carson, pastor of Waverly Methodist Church, officiating.
