John Padgett 

  DENDRON - John Robert Padgett, 81, a retired farmer and a native of Sussex 
County, died Monday in a hospital. 

  Padgett was a member of Surry Baptist Church. 

  Survivors include his wife, Mabel Ellis Padgett; and a sister, Lucy P. 
Brittle of Wakefield.

  The funeral will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in Purviance Funeral 
Chapel, Wakefield, by the Rev. Ron Nichols.  Burial will be in Waverly 
Cemetery. 

  The family will be at the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Birthdate &c. from D.Cert. 85-012517, which mistakenly gives his father as 
   William Russell PADGETT - a brother's name - and Susan (BAIN) PADGETT; 
   the informant was John's widow. 

Rather, their parents were William Henry & Rosa F. (BAIN) PADGETT.  They are 
   also buried in Waverly Cemetery.  (Find a Grave Mem. #17087088 &c.)
