All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ DAVE LAWRENCE PITTMAN Wakefield, Virginia DAVE LAWRENCE PITTMAN, 43, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 5, 2006 at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk, Virginia. Born November 22, 1962 in Suffolk he was the son of Pauline B. Pittman and the late Burtron Hayes Pittman. He was a 1980 honors graduate of Oak Hill Academy and volunteered his time as Maintenance Team Leader; had worked for Kraft Machine Works; was vice-president of Pittman Enterprises LLC in Wakefield; a member of Wakefield Baptist Church; and served on the Virginia Baptist Disaster Relief Team since 2003 having traveled and aided with Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida, and Virginia Disasters. Dave was a dedicated member of the Ivor Ruritan Club, Ruritan National Organization, Zone 2, Holland District, having served as the 2005 Zone 2 Governor for the Holland District. His fellow Ruritans called him a great leader who has always been there to help with whatever task brought before him, including assistance at the national conventions and aiding with victims of disaster on a national level. Besides his loving mother, he is survived by his aunt, Marie Barrett; and several cousins. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. in Wakefield Cemetery, Wakefield, Virginia, with the Rev. Jim Kerr officiating. The family will receive friends at his mother’s residence. Memorial donations may be made to Virginia Baptist Disaster Relief, P. O. Box 8568, Richmond, VA 23226; or to the Oak Hill Academy, 2635 Oak Hill Rd., Wilson, VA 24363. Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, assisted the family with arrangements.
