PITTMAN DIED SUDDENLY Mrs. Emma Grubbs Pittman, 75, died unexpectedly at her home in Wakefield on Wednesday at about 7:15 p.m. A daughter of F.A. and Mrs. Charlotte Grubbs, she was a native of Liberty, Pa. She came to Surry County as a child of eight and had lived in Wakefield for 23 years. She was the widow of Ernest A. Pittman and a member of the Wakefield Methodist Church. She is survived by a son, J. Ernest Pittman, of Wakefield; three daughters, Mrs. S.A. Brantley and Mrs. S. O. Rogers, of Wakefield, and Mrs. William Troxler, of Raleigh, N.C.; a sister, Mrs. Mary Cockes, of Richmond; a brother, Frank Grubbs, of Richmond; 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. at the Purviance Funeral Chapel with Rev. L.P. Bland officiating. Burial will be in Wakefield Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Elwood Harris, Linwood Cofer, Luther Williams, Dr. W.M. Leech, B.D. Briggs, George Marshall, S.I. Jenkins, Joe Epps, R.J. Bailey and Lyle Pond.
