Born Sept. 3, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Clayton and Bessie Bailey Lowe. She was the widow of Jack Wilbert Pittman Sr. and a lifelong resident of Southampton and Sussex Counties. She left Obici Hospital after 19 years as a nurse’s aide and went on to work for a private organization. She was a member of Wakefield Baptist Church, Reese Bible Class, and a member of the Rusty Needles craft group. She is survived by three daughters, Fay P. Rogers and Jacqueline P. O’Berry, both of Wakefield, and Jane P. Jones, Ivor; two sons, Jack W. Pittman Jr., Smithfield, and Jerry M. Pittman, Chesapeake; two brothers, A.C. Lowe, Jr. and Winston Lowe, both of Elberon; and two sisters, Edith L. Slaterbeck, New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Marjorie Lowe Jarrett, Richmond; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held in the Wakefield Baptist Church, Wakefield, Tuesday, Jan. 17 with the Rev. James H. Kerr, the Rev. Roger Johnson, and the Rev. Ray Rowland officiating. Slaterbeck of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Marjorie Lowe Jarrett of Richmond; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Eleanor Berryman, Florence Jones and Audrey Bulls, and brother, David Lowe. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, in the Wakefield Baptist Church, Wakefield, with the Rev. James H. Kerr, the Rev. Roger Johnson and the Rev. Ray Rowland and officiating. Burial to follow in the Wakefield Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield.
