GURNEY NICHOLAS PITTMAN SR. 

  SUFFOLK, VA. - Gurney Nicholas Pittman Sr., 87, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 
in Suffolk.

  A native of Surry County, Mr. Pittman retired as a lumber salesman for 
Scotch Lumber Company in Mobile, Ala.

  Survivors include a daughter, Edith P. Hedrick of Suffolk; a son, Gurney 
Nicholas Pittman, Jr., of Norfolk; a sister, Rebecca P. Price of Dendron; 
two grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

  A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Purviance Funeral Home, 
Wakefield, by the Rev. Charles W. Thompson.  Burial will be in Wakefield 
Cemetery.

  The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. Monday until time of service 
in the funeral home.

  The family request that expressions of sympathy take the form of 
contributions to the Suffolk Rescue Squad.

Gurney 1m. Doris Nelson McENERNEY 7 Oct 1922 in Winton, Hertford Co., NC. 
   Divorced in 1945, she 2m. Ray Pendleton KISER.  They are buried in 
   Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk.
