Pittman of Wakefield, passed away suddenly on Sept. 13, 2004, at her home. Born in Gates County, NC [sic*] on March 4, 1920, she was the daughter of the late William Clinton Eure and Rosalie Carter Eure of Whaleyville. A devoted member of Wakefield Baptist Church where she served as Sunday school secretary for many years, she was most proud that she had recently received her 20 year perfect attendance pin. Mrs. Pittman and her late husband operated Pittman’s Jewelry and Watch Repair from 1948 until 1990. She is survived by a daughter, Linda Margaret Pittman of Wakefield, and a son and daughter-in-law, William E. and Lisa Pittman of Gloucester Point; two grandchildren, William Stewart Pittman of Williamsburg, and Katherine Margaret Pittman of Newport News; three sisters, Marilyn E. Taylor of Whaleyville, Myrtle E. Eason of Sunbury, NC, and Patricia Jackson of Charlotte, NC; one brother, William Lee Eure of Wilmington, NC; a beloved sister-in-law, Pauline B. Pittman; and a nephew, Dave L. Pittman of Wakefield. She was preceded in death by a brother, Werdna W. Eure and a sister, Mabel E. Robertson. Graveside services were held at Wakefield Cemetery, Wakefield on Sept. 16, at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Jim Kerr officiating. The family received friends at Mrs. Pittman’s home on Sept. 15 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Contributions in Mrs. Pittman’s memory may be made to any volunteer rescue squad of your choice.
