WILLIAM JACKSON PITTMAN

  DENDRON - Funeral services for William Jackson Pittman, 72, who died at 
Johnson-Willis Hospital Tuesday, Oct. 10, were held Friday, Oct. 13, from 
Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield.

  A native of Surry County, he was a retired merchant.  He was the son of 
the late James Albert [sic; "Algie"*] Pittman and Mrs. Jennie Scarborough 
Pittman.  He was member of Dendron Christian Church.

  Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Rebecca Cleveland D. Price of Dendron, 
and a brother, Gurney N. Pittman of Mobile, Ala.

  The Rev. H.E. Crutchfield officiated.  Active pallbearers included. 
Active pallbearers included Darold Hart, Thurman Williams, M.B. Joyner, 
Owen Whitmore, Garland Morris, Arthur Presson, J.B. Johnson, and Robert 
Moore.

  Interment was in Wakefield Cemetery.
