All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ LOIS VIRGINIA MURPHY PULLIAM 06-06-1925 - 05-30-2014 Lois Virginia Murphy Pulliam, 88, of Dallas Texas died peacefully Friday, May 30, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Lois was born on June 6, 1925 in Dendron, Va. to Robert Lee and Mary Lucille (Cotton) Murphy of Wakefield, Virginia. Lois attended Wakefield High School and Pan Am Business College in Richmond, Virginia. She worked for Fannie Mae in Richmond for several years before she married F. Preston Pulliam in 1945. During the course of their marriage they resided in Arlington, Alexandria, and Warrenton, Virginia. Lois’s most cherished childhood memories included the times she spent with her beloved brother, Lawrence. Later, Lois devoted herself completely to the raising of her three daughters. She took great pleasure in visiting and caring for her four grandchildren. Lois enjoyed traveling around the world, including trips to England, Austria, and Hong Kong. Seeing the Great Wall of China was another highlight of her life. She volunteered for many years at the Warrenton Thrift Shop, Fauquier Hospital, and the Red Cross Blood Bank. In 2004, Lois moved to Dallas, Texas where she resided at The Plaza at Edgemere. She had extra attention from caring friends, Evalina Herrien and Vicki Winkler. In December 2013, she moved to the extraordinary care home of June Weismer where she was attended by loving caregivers Terry, Gladys and Rose, along with more extraordinary attention from the Hospice Plus team headed by Christy Samuel. Lois is survived by her three daughters and spouses, Deborah and Michael Del Colliano of Alexandria, VA; Nancy and Rodger Sanders of Dallas, TX; Mary and Harold Davis of Chadds Ford, PA; grandchildren, Ross Pennington, Grace Sheehan, Dillon and Marguerite Davis. She will also be dearly missed by her former husband, F. Preston Pulliam of Winchester, Virginia. The private service will be held at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, 11414 General Mahone Hwy, Wakefield, VA 23888 on Friday, June 6, 2014 with burial to follow at Wakefield Cemetery.
