Born June 24, 1948 in Paynesville, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Margie Honaker Mullins of Grundy, and the late Esaw Mullins. Mrs. Payne lived in the Wakefield area since 1972 and worked part-time at the Virginia Diner, and lovingly worked in her home as a babysitter for numerous children in the area who relished in her special love and affection she had for all children. She was also a member of Wakefield Baptist Church. Besides her mother, she leaves to cherish her memory, her living husband, Billy Homer Payne, her son, Caleb A. Payne of Wakefield; three sisters, Sandy Bowden of Wakefield, Norma Mullins of Paynesville, W.Va., and Darlene Thompson of Athens, W.VA.; one brother, Billy Mullins of Grundy; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on June 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Purviance Funeral Home Chapel, Wakefield, with the Rev. Jim Keer officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services were also held on June 20, at 7 p.m. and June 21, at 11 a.m. at Cross View Church of Christ, Grundy, Virginia Funeral Home, Grundy was in charge of services. Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, was entrusted with services to the family.
