A member of the Suffolk Christian Church, he was an officer on the Suffolk police force for 20 years, being retired three and a half years ago because of illness. A son of the late Conoly M. Pond and Sarah Andrews Pond, of Sussex County, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Richardson Pond; three daughters, Mrs. C.T. Early, of Suffolk, Mrs. J.O. Chappell, of Surry, and Mrs. Otho Palmer, of Suffolk; a son, W. Wilson Pond, of Norfolk; four sisters, Mrs. J.T. Hargrave, of Newport News, Mrs. E.C. Richardson, of Suffolk, Mrs. S.C. King, of Richmond, and Mrs. Bessie Pond, of Waverly; a brothers, H. Butler Pond, of Waverly and six grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 10th, at 2 p.m. at the Baker Funeral Home by Dr. John G. Truitt, pastor of the Suffolk Christian Church. Burial was in Spring Hill Christian Church Cemetery, Sussex County. (#19887 {Suffolk #261}) gives Guy Philip Pond, his WW-I & WW-II draft cards both give Guy Phillips Pond.
