J. S. Pond, 86, Buried Oct. 11 At Mill Swamp 

  John Sam Pond, 86, died Sunday morning, October 9, 1960, at the home of a 
daughter, Mrs. C.S. Joyner of Chuckatuck, after a long illness. 

  Son of John Sam and Susie Richardson Pond, he was a native of Sussex County 
and a member of Mill Swamp Baptist Church.  His wife was the late Nancy 
Elizabeth Pond. 

  Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Joyner and Mrs. Pearl Williams of 
Norfolk, and two sons, Charles Henry Pond of Chuckatuck and Johnnie Allen Pond 
of Windsor. 

  A funeral service was conducted Tuesday at 2. P.M. in the Jones Funeral Home 
by the Rev. G.M. Profitt of Mill Swamp Baptist Church, with burial in the 
church cemetery.

He 3m. Laura Holleman (ELLIS; widow of Chas. Crawley) SCOTT (1894 - 1964), 
   3 Jun 1950, in Newport News (#198).  She 3m. Sidney Smith GAGE, 8 Jun 1963, 
   in Newport News .  She was buried in Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News. 

D.Cert. 27189 (Chuckatuck #109) gives John Sam POND, Jr., son of John Sam Jr. 
   and Susie (RICHARDSON) POND. 

Rather, his father's name was John Henry.
