Robert Lee Pond, Jr., 66, died Thursday, June 6, at a Suffolk nursing home. A native of Sussex County and a lifelong resident, he was the son of Robert L. Sr., and Jesse Council Pond. He was a member of the Wakefield Methodist Church. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Wilbur R. Ellis of Waverly; Mrs. Horace G. Bass of Danville, and Mrs. V.W. Hines of Wakefield. Funeral services were held at Purviance Funeral Chapel, Saturday, June 8, at three p.m. Burial was at Rocky Hock Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. L.P. Bland officiating. Pallbearers were Robert M. Pond, John E. Williams, E.A. Hatch, R.M. Cobb, L. Ray Ashworth, C.R. Jones, E.S. Kitchen and Truett Garrett.
