"Bill" Pond, 41, a resident of Wakefield, died Sunday, March 25, 2001, at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk, after a brief illness. Bill was employed at Wakefield Farm Service and was a member of Wakefield United Methodist Church. He was 1977 graduate of Tidewater Academy and had attended Paul D. Camp Community College in Franklin. He is survived by his parents, Jack and Barbara Jean Seeley Pond of Sedley; a sister, Betty P. Beale and her husband, Dickie Beale, of Sedley; his wife Karen M. Pond of Bracey, Va.; two sons, Austin Martin Pond and Tristan Evans Pond; a nephew, Willie Beale; a niece, Ella Beale; and a special friend, Karen Kidd of Richmond; several aunts and uncles and a host of good friends. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, in Wakefield Cemetery by Dr. James Becker. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, and at other times at the residence of Jack and Barbara Pond, Urquhart Quarter Road, Sedley. Memorial donations may be made to the Memorial Fund of Wakefield United Methodist Church or to the Waverly Rescue Squad.
