She was a native of Richmond, VA and was a daughter of the late Hugh and Bessie Pride Bendall. She was a graduate of John Marshall High School in Richmond. She attended Landmark Baptist Church in Petersburg and was very active in the volunteer day care program of the church. She was active in the Republican Party and served as a delegate to the 1993 Republican Convention. She had worked for the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co., becoming a chief operator and also worked for J.C. Penney, Rucker Rosenstock and as a partner on Parkhill Service market of Petersburg. She was a great lover of cats and made contributions to their welfare. She is survived by a son, William H. Pursell, IV, of Petersburg; and one sister, Mrs. George Moore, Rock Hill, SC. A funeral service will be held in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield on Tuesday, February 1, 1995, at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Jack Hardy. Burial will follow in the Wakefield Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Tri City Chapter of the SPCA, Colonial Heights. Gladys Franklin (BENDALL; Mrs. William H.
