Oscar Eugene Parker, Jr. Wakefield - Oscar Eugene Parker, Jr., 90, of Wakefield passed away peacefully Sunday, February 16, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the first Eagle Scout in Sussex County. Mr. Parker was a graduate of Yale University, class of 1946 and served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Wakefield United Methodist Church; a member of the Wakefield Ruritan Club; a member of the Wakefield Masonic Lodge #198 for over 50 years and he was one of the founding fathers of Tidewater Academy where he was the first chairman of the Board of Directors from 1964 to 1978. One of his proudest accomplishments was the establishment and his loyal support of Tidewater Academy. He was a proud and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Eugene Parker, Sr. and Irma May Reese Parker; his wife of 65 years, Glenice Loehr Parker and a sister, Dorothy Reese Parker. Left to cherish his memory is are his children, O.E. "Chip" Parker III and his wife, Ann, Christopher T. Parker and wife, Vicki and Sandra P. Rickmond and husband, R.E. "Gene"; grandchildren, Dustin Parker and his wife, Nicole, Michelle Scott and her husband, Josh, Park Parker, Shawn Parker, Reese Parker, Casey Rickmond and Dale Rickmond; three great-grandchildren, Landon, Lucas and Jayla; sister, Irma May Parker and numerous nieces and nephews. All services will be private. The family will receive friends to reflect on the lives of Oscar and Glenice Thursday, February 20, 2014 in the fellowship hall of Wakefield United Methodist Church from 5 to 7:00 pm. The family would like to extend a special thank you to their caregivers, Betty Davis, Hazel Gay and Steve Jones.
