BERNICE ESTELLE BAILEY PURYEAR 

  RICHMOND - Mrs. Bernice Estelle Bailey Puryear, 55, a native of Southampton 
County and the widow of Willie Puryear, died Saturday in a hospital.

  She was a member of Kingsland Baptist Church and a cafeteria worker at 
Bellwood Elementary School.

  Survivors include a son, Willie Peyton Puryear of Richmond; a sister, Mrs. 
Roland E. Epps of Wakefield; two brothers, R.E. (Peter) Bailey of Wakefield, 
and Fenton L. Bailey of Rocky Mount, N.C.; and a granddaughter, Miss Sherry 
Lynn Puryear of Richmond.

  A funeral was held Monday at 4 p.m. in Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, 
by the Rev. Frank LaPierre and the Rev. Ed Griffin.  Burial was in Wakefield 
Cemetery.
