Born April 23, 1919, she was the daughter of the late John Elam and Augusta White Bain and the widow of Paul W. Rogers, Sr. Mrs. Rogers was a member of Wakefield United Methodist Church where she faithfully served in the nursey for many years. She was also a member of the Wakefield Bridge Club, the Wakefield Woman’s Club and was a long-time member of the Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. Rogers was also preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Bain Williams. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Paul W. Rogers, Jr. and wife, Pam; her daughter, Joyce Anderson and husband, Leland; grandchildren, Paul Rogers, III, and wife, Dawn, Sharon Rogers and friend, Brain Moore, Karen Green and husband, Nathan, Jennifer Beach; great-grandchildren, Lauren Boze, Jacob Boze, Elizabeth Green, Paul W. Rogers, IV, harper Claire Green, Joshua Beach and Rachel Beach, and nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Wakefield Cemetery with Rev. Edward Owen and Rev. Curtis Lucy officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Wakefield United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wakefield United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 87 Wakefield, VA 23888 or to Tidewater Academy, P.O. Box 1000, Wakefield, VA 23888. The family is being served by R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, Wakefield Chapel.
