He was a member of Rocky Hock Church all of his life. Although he attended church sporadically in his adult years, he garnered perfect attendance for twelve years as a youth. It is said that he took his Biblical teachings in Sunday school to heart, and practiced the lessons he was taught during this time. After hearing about the story of Adam and Eve and the snake in the Garden of Eden, the following week he decided to bring the story to life and brought a live snake to Sunday school to share, letting it go in the classroom. Larry was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed spending time with his son James ("Slic") and his grandson Jamison hunting and fishing. He was looking forward to including his granddaughter Addison on these outings when she got a little older. He was a talented carpenter, building his own home where he lived with his wife Kim, and the Treehouse, where he spent many hours cooking meals and entertaining family and friends. He was a great historian, and was able to relate the history of many Little Surry families, including his own. He collected many old pictures and information about the familes in the surrounding areas. Many people in the community relied on Larry to fix and repair their cars and trucks, and to keep them running, even of they had some age on them. Larry Rogers will truly be missed not only by his family, but by all members of the community, for he was a friend to everyone.
