ROGERS & LUCY R. ROGERS BY SON PAUL W. ROGERS Joshua Wellington Rogers (1886 - 1953) was a member of Rocky Hock Church. He farmed all his life. He married Lucy Rawlings (1881-1949) from the Cabin Point area. She was also a member of Rocky Hock Church. They had four children, two who died in infancy. Their two surviving children were a daughter, Pearl Lucille (1915-1996), who married Ralph Seeley, and a son, Paul Wellington (1918-1964), who married Clara Bain. After living on several farms in the Little Surry area, Josh Rogers purchased a farm in Southampton County in 1936 where Clara Rogers lives today. He also purchased a tract of land that was once part of Oakland Plantation. In the late 1940's, Josh's son, Paul, purchased the Belle Meade farm adjoining his father's farm in Southampton County. Every Sunday Lucy cooked a large Sunday meal for her family and any other visitors to their home that day, a tradition that their daughter, Lucille, continued with her family and friends until her death. ****************************************************************************** donated obit, publication unknown LUCY ANN RAWLINGS ROGERS MRS.
