Webster Vernon "Jimmy" Rogers, Jr., age 64, a resident of Wakefield died Monday, July 6, 1992 at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Wakefield and was a retired Salesman/Truck Driver for Wakefield Oil Company and Sussex Oil Company. He was a member of the Wakefield United Methodist Church, the Wakefield Sportsman's Club, The Homeville Hunt Club, and he was a former member of the Wakefield Hunt Club, and the Wakefield volunteer Fire department. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of Korea. He is survived by his wife, Fay Pittman Rogers; a son, Webster V. Rogers, [illegible]; two daughters, Nancy R. Nicholson and Elizabeth Vance Rogers; his mother, Mrs. Bernice Branch Rogers, all of Wakefield; a sister, Virginia R. Rives of Petersburg; a granddaughter, Tanya Elizabeth Rogers, Wakefield; three nephews, Sterling E. Rivers, III, Ashland; Andrew P. Rives, II, Midlothian; and Bailey E. Rives, Petersburg. A funeral service will be held at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield on Thursday, July 9, 1992 at 11:00 a.m. by the Rev. Jess V. Staton. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence 207 Savedge Avenue, Wakefield. Memorial donations may be made to the Wakefield Volunteer Fire Department, the Waverly Rescue Squad, the Wakefield United Methodist Church, or to the American Cancer Society, c/o Isabelle Norris, Waverly, Virginia 23890.
