WAVERLY - Emmett B. Richardson Jr., 83, a resident of Owens Grove Rd., Waverly, Va., died Thursday, June 20, 2002, at Tandem Health Care, Windsor, VA. Born March 30, 1919, in Sussex County, he was the son of the Emmett B. Richardson Sr. and Nellie Carneal Richardson. He attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1936; was a member of the Masonic Order, Lodge 0198-0070 AF&AM; and was the last living charter member of Wakefield Ruritan Club, a Trustee of Spring Hill Christian Church and a member of Wakefield United Methodist Church. He loved and worked the land as the owner of Lone Oak Farms, and he was the husband of the late Ann Morris Richardson. He is survived by his son, Keith G. Richardson, and his wife, Alyce, of Wakefield; two granddaughters, Natalee R. Felts and husband Travis E. Felts, and Brandee C. Richardson; great-grandson, Richardson Wake Felts; great- granddaughter, Gracie Logan Felts; sisters, Evelyn R. Sasnett of Tuscaloosa, Al., Anne Nicholson of Atlanta, GA; and several nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Miriam L. Richardson, Lt. Comm. (retired), U.S. Navy. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, at Wakefield Cemetery, Wakefield, VA, with the Rev. Jim Kerr officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Spring Hill Christian Church, c/o Emmett Drewry, P.O. Box 506, Waverly, VA, 23890; or a rescue squad of your choice. Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield is in charge of arrangements.
