Melvin Rollings, 76, retired owner of Elberon Supply Co. and a resident of Elberon, died Wednesday, Nov. 10 Mr. Rollings was a member of Dendron United Methodist Church, where he was a former superintendent and adult Sunday school class teacher. Survived by his wife, Clarice Epps Rollings; a daughter, Otelia R. Seward of Surry; a son, John C. Rollings of Quinton; a sister, Orlean R. Hargrave of Dendron; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield. Funeral 11 a.m. Saturday at Dendron United Methodist Church by the Rev. Raymond Rowland and Gene Tatum. Burial in Wakefield Cemetery. Melvin Rollings, 76, a resident of Elberon, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, in his home. Rollings was a native of Surry County, the son of the late Mills Leslie and Ida Collier Rollings. Rollings was a member of the Dendron United Methodist Church where he served as a former Superintendent and Adult Sunday School Class Teacher. He was a member of the Neighborhood Hunt Club in Elberon and was the retired owner of Elberon Supply Co. He is survived by his wife, Clarice Epps Rollings; a daughter, Otelia R. Seward of Surry; a son, John C. Rollings of Quinton; a sister, Orlean R. Hargrave of Dendron; two grandchildren, Lisa S. Owen of Wakefield and J. Mark Seward of Elberon; two great-grandchildren, Ashley Owen and Erin Owen of Wakefield. A funeral service was held in Dendron United Methodist Church on Saturday, Nov. 13, by the Rev. Raymond Rowland and the Rev. Gene Tatum. Burial was in Wakefield Cemetery. Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, handled arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Dendron United Methodist Church.
