RONALD COLEMAN ROLLINGS 

Crash Victim Might Have Fallen Asleep 

  WAVERLY - A 31 year-old Waverly man was killed Wednesday night when his car 
crashed into a ditch a short distance from his home.

  Ronald Coleman Rollings of Route 2 was reported dead at the scene.  His son, 
Ronald C. Rollings, Jr., was riding in the car and was thrown clear of the 
accident.  He was reportedly uninjured.

  Waverly policeman W.E. Bradshaw said Rollings apparently fell asleep at the 
wheel.

  The two were reportedly returning from a trip to Petersburg.

  For the past three years Mr. Rollings had served as assistant postmaster in 
the Petersburg district post offices and was an Air Force veteran of nine 
years service.

  He was a member of the Wakefield Christian Church and the Hopewell Moose 
Lodge 1472.

  Besides his son, he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Earl 
Rollings of Wakefield; two brothers, Sterling L. Rollings of Wakefield, and 
Leonard Earl Rollings of Holland; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Ethel S. 
Rollings of Wakefield.

  A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Purviance Funeral Home, 
Wakefield, by the Rev. Dan Bowers and the Rev. Jerry Edwards.

  Burial will be in Wakefield Cemetery.

  The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions 
to the Waverly Rescue Squad, or the Wakefield Fire Department.
