She was the widow of Dr. Thomas Morton Raines. Born on July 29, 1912 in Dendron, Va., she was the daughter of the late James Hill and Minnie Lee Livesay Hill, She was a member of the Wakefield United Methodist Church and had formerly worked in the Ruritan National office in Wakefield. She is survived by a son Thomas Morton Raines, Jr. of Carson; a daughter, Alice R. Joyner and her husband, Massey Joyner of Ivor; a sister, Minnie H. Burton of Yorktown; granddaughter, Karen Halman of Norfolk; grandson, Keith Joyner of Ivor; two great-granddaughters, Lindsay Joyner and Sarah Halman; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2002 at 2 p.m. in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield. Burial will be Wakefield Cemetery. The family will be at the residence of Massey and Alice Joyner in Ivor. Memorial donations may be made to the Ivor Volunteer Rescue Squad. Alice Virginia (HILL; Mrs. Thomas M.)
