He was a lifelong resident of Surry County, a retired farmer, and a former employee of the Virginia Highway Department Ferry Service and Seward Lumber Co., He was the son of the late Richard R. and Emma Warren Savedge. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Purviance Funeral Home Chapel, Wakefield. Burial will be in Wakefield Cemetery. The family request expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to Patrick Henry Hospital or the Surry Rescue Squad. Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield is in charge. (father's D.Cert. 3933 {Cobham #2}) His father (1840-1919) was a Confederate veteran, serving in the Surry Light Artillery. Both R.R. & his widow received a pension. The D.Cert. (28108 {Cobham #22}) of his mother (1860-1933) gives Col. (Colored); d/o J.N. & H. Elizabeth (WARREN) LANE.
