R.B. Moore and the Rev. Graham Carlton. Burial was in Waverly Cemetery. Pallbearers were J. Taylor Spain, M.P. Little, Robert Simmons, Luther Spain, Donald Little, W.N. Tyner, R.S. Spain, Gus Simmons and Edward Turner. Mrs. Spain, 89, died Saturday morning in a Petersburg nursing home. A native of Southampton County, she was a daughter of the late Richard Thomas and Mrs. Mary Simmons Spain and the widow of Charles Franklin Spain. She was a member of Oak Grove Methodist Church of Sussex County. She is survived by a son, Howard E. Spain of Waverly; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Tyner of Courtland; and three grandchildren.
