JOSEPHINE POND STEPHENSON

  Josephine Pond Stephenson of Wakefield passed away peacefully October 31, 
2017 at her home.  Born July 19, 1936 in Southampton County, she was the 
daughter of the late Lonnie Judson Pond and Ella Mae Rollings Pond.  Josephine 
worked as a bookkeeper for Southern States in Wakefield and Cowling Brothers 
in Waverly.  Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, 
Marvin Chapple Stephenson, Sr.; her brothers, Hudson Pond, Judson Pond, Homer 
"Jack" Pond and Harold "Jill" Pond and her sister, Elizabeth Goodrich.

  Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Marvin Chapple Stephenson, Jr., 
William Reeves Stephenson, and James Andrew Stephenson (Wanda); granddaughter, 
Brittany Stephenson (Michael); and great-granddaughters, Madelyn and Josilyn 
Kessinger.

  A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, November 5, 2017 at 
Wakefield Cemetery with Rev. Glenn Riggs officiating.  In lieu of flowers, 
memorial contributions may be made to the Waverly Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. 
Box 583 Waverly, VA 23890, or to the Wakefield Volunteer Fire Department, 155 
Fleetwood Ave. Wakefield, VA 23888.  R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Wakefield
