NORFOLK - David Lewis Steele, 80, of Norfolk died Tuesday, (Aug. 30, 1977) after a long illness. He was born at Dendron, Surry County, son of David [Steele] and Roxie Faison (Steele) Jones. Mr. Steele was active in the Seaman’s Friends Society. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Beatrice (Smyth) Steele; one daughter, Mrs. Edward Buchanan of Wappinger Falls, N.Y.; one half-brother, Edgar Jones of Staunton, and three grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at Seamen’s Rest, 1222 Olney Road. The family request that memorial contributions be made to the Seamen’s Friend’s Society.
